Ego 2019

Ego 2019 by Bressan is a cult, rare wine made in Friuli with Schioppettino and Cabernet Franc grapes. Whilst much of Friuli is focused on skin-contact amber wines, Bressan is known for his big reds. This wine will feature some peppery notes from the Cabernet Franc and bold, forest fruit touches from the Schioppettino.

Production Details: Ego is a red wine from Bressan in Friuli-Venezia Giulia made from a blend of indigenous red grapes. Fermentation lasts 30 to 35 days on the skins with native yeasts. The wine then ages for an extended period in mixed wooden vessels — oak, chestnut, and wild pear — building layers of complexity and subtle regional character.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried the 2019 vintage of Ego by Bressan, but we hear it has notes of dark cherry, plum, spice, dried herbs, and considerable tannin structure from extended skin contact and wood ageing.
