Pur Jus 2022 by Max Sein Wein is made in Baden with Kerner, Bacchus, Gewürztraminer and Ortega grapes. Bacchus and Kerner are directly pressed and blended with the Müller-Thurgau and Ortega, which are macerated.
Winemaker Max Baumann trained with Gut Oggau and Judith Beck, and is known to leave his wines with long elebage in old barrels and let rest in the bottle before releasing to the public.
Production details of Pur Jus: Pur Jus comes from Max Baumann's Max Sein Wein label in Dertingen, Baden, Germany. He works 3.5 hectares of family land and trained at Gut Oggau and Judith Beck before releasing his first vintage in 2016. The blend is 40% Kerner, 35% Gewürztraminer, 15% Ortega and 10% Bacchus. The Bacchus and Kerner are pressed directly, while the Gewürztraminer and Ortega get a short skin contact for texture. The wine ages 9 months in old wood.
Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Pur Jus by Max Sein Wein, but we hear it has notes of tangy lemon, fresh straw, delicate white flowers and a lively herbal character.
