NATURAL WINES BY MEINKLANG
Meinklang is the Michlits family farm at Pamhagen, on the Hungarian border at the south end of Lake Neusiedl. Brothers Werner, Hannes and Lukas run it today, with Werner and his wife Angela in charge of vines and cellar. It is a full working farm with over 300 Angus cattle, sheep, orchards and old grains that go into their own beer. They also farm Hárslevelű and Juhfark on Somló, a volcanic hill in Hungary.
Grapes are hand-picked and wild fermented. It is one of the biggest natural wine estates we know. Start with Weisser Mulatschak, a skin-contact Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Welschriesling blend that is one of the best value orange wines around. Graupert Pinot Gris comes from vines that are never pruned, and the Abend and Nacht editions age in concrete eggs with no added sulphites.
