Extra Libre 2021

Extra Libre 2022 by Chateau De Cedre is a natural wine made in Cahors with Malbec and Merlot grapes.This big red has a bit more grip to its tannins, so ideal for hearty food and for those who prefer slightly heavier reds.

Production details of Extra Libre: Extra Libre is made by Château du Cèdre in Cahors, southwestern France. The blend is 97% Malbec and 3% Merlot. Grapes are sorted in the vineyard, destemmed at the cellar, and given 30 days of maceration with daily punch-downs at the start of fermentation. Malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks, then 12 months in barrels used twice. 27-hectare estate farmed without synthetic chemistry since 2012. No herbicides, manual work with green harvest reducing to 4-5 bunches per vine. No added sulphur.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Extra Libre by Château Du Cèdre, but we hear it has notes of black fruit, blackberry, mint, green pepper and a juicy fresh finish.
