Bruce 1 2024 is a natural wine crafted by La Sorga, in the Languedoc region in France. This orange wine is made with Grenache Blanc grapes from 65 year old vines.
Grown on limestone marl soils in Aspiran, in the Hérault Valley, this cuvée draws its character from very old Grenache vines and low yields (32 hl/ha).
The grapes are destemmed and macerated for 41 days, then aged for 8 months in a sandstone jar, with no added sulphites.
Winemaker tasting notes describe an intense nose, with the classic markers of Grenache plus a very chalky, mineral edge. The palate is said to be well-toned, blending greengage plum, pomelo and sweet spices, with a very long, chalky finish.
Drink this one in a single sitting, as it's unlikely to hold the next day.
1,100 bottles were produced.

Who is Anthony Tortul and La Sorga?
Antony Tortul's La Sorga winery is one of the most cult operations in the Languedoc.
He started out buying grapes from local organic growers he trusted and has been doing it long enough that he now has some of his own vines too.
For those unaware, he was one of the original founders of the Brutal!!! label, alongside Escoda Sanahuja, Mendall and Rémi Poujol… in fact he was the one who designed the iconic label himself the very same night the whole thing came together, and that was after more than a whole night's drinking!
La Sorga wines are raw, energetic and completely their own thing - no added sulphites and full of expression.
