The blend combines Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains with Macabeu, bringing together aromatic intensity with a more savoury Mediterranean edge.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"868\" data-start=\"315\"\u003eThe grapes are grown on limestone-rich soils around Calce, where cooling winds from the Pyrenees help retain freshness despite the warm climate. Harvested by hand, the fruit undergoes around 10-12 days of whole-bunch skin maceration, giving the wine its hazy golden colour, gentle tannic grip and vibrant texture. After pressing, the wine rests in concrete tanks to preserve purity and energy before being bottled unfiltered and without added sulphur. His wines manage to be simultaneously complex, aromatic, and (dangerously) very drinkable. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"767\" data-start=\"402\"\u003eThe vineyards sit on limestone, marl and schist soils shaped by strong Tramontane winds and cooling influences from the nearby Pyrenees, conditions that help preserve freshness and tension in this otherwise warm Mediterranean climate. Some of the vines used for Marguerite are very old, with naturally low yields that bring concentration without sacrificing energy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"1151\" data-start=\"769\"\u003eFor the 2024 vintage, the grapes underwent around 5 to 7 days of whole-bunch skin maceration before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The wine was then aged on its lees in large old 2,500-litre foudres, allowing texture and complexity to build slowly without overt oak influence. The old bush vines naturally produce tiny yields, concentrating flavour whilst maintaining remarkable finesse.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eFor the 2024 vintage, the grapes were fully destemmed before fermentation with indigenous yeasts, bringing a more delicate and precise expression of Carignan compared to the whole-bunch approach used in some other Matassa wines. The wine is then aged across a mixture of concrete tanks, clay amphorae and large neutral old barrels, allowing texture and complexity to develop without heavy oak influence. As always at Matassa, the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimal to no added sulphur.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-end=\"1674\" data-start=\"1314\"\u003eDespite its light colour and bright profile, Rouge 2024 still carries a lovely rustic soul underneath the freshness. Yield it not that high (like the rest of our plots and gives us only around 18Hl\/ha). After taking the grapes from the land it will undergo a semi carbonic in concrete and stainless steel with a bit direct press gamay. After pressing we put it together in one big fiberglass dome where the wine has still room to dance and finish the fermentation. Then aged for more than 10 months before bottling in the same dome. This is great for biodiversity: say hello to deers, hares and more but also a great breeding area for flavescence doree (which has killed with their virus now almost 1\/3 of our plot). Unfortunately with less vines this year, we hope to have it under control in a couple of years and do some replantation on the empty spots. Quite interesting, that there is a turning point with this!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e In the previous 2023 vintage, we found notes of canned pineapple, herbaceous twists and most interestingly, dried apple slices. In 2024 the grapes were harvested at the lieu-dit Le Poyebade. The vineyard lays on the west side of the mountain Brouilly with the height of 370m, which is quite impressive. The lieu-dit Poyebade is in appellation of Cote de Brouilly. Because of the location the vineyard is only having sun during the afternoon, this is why there is such a great mix of ripeness and freshness at the same time.
