The soils are limestone, clay, and sand. Some of the Nebbiolo vines date back to 1934. Fermentation happens in stainless steel. The wine is aged in large wooden barrels — 20 to 40 hectolitres — for an extended period, allowing gradual extraction and complexity.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried the 2021 vintage of Barolo by Ferdinando Principiano, but we hear it has notes of cherry, tar, licorice, roses, and considerable tannin structure.
