German New Wave Box DEAL

Price includes taxes, but not delivery

Germany is part of the "old world" when it comes to winemaking, but in the last couple of years, there has been an influx of young winemakers interested in spicing things up and looking at winemaking with a fresh pair of eyes - often going completely against the ideologies and processes of their winemaking parents.

In this box set we introduce you to five of those wonderful, young winemakers:

Marto Wines - Weiss 2020

Martin Wörner took over his father's vineyard and farm some years ago and his dad is still helping in the vineyard now. We've always been fans of his "Weiss", ever since its first vintage in 2016 (which we're lucky to still have a bottle of in our personal fridge!), and we are not the only ones. By now his wines are super popular all over the world. This 2020 vintage has citrussy and mineral notes, together with that unmistakable tropical twang that this beautiful wine always has no matter the vintage! We love it!

Region: Rheinhessen - Grapes: Field Blend - Alcohol: 10%

Max Dexheimer - Rot

With the mission to only make natural wine, Max Dexheimer took over his family's vineyards. Early on his parents laid the foundation for biodynamic work in the vineyard by abandoning herbicides which made the transition a bit easier for Max, but he is pushing it even further. So far, we've been very impressed with his wines and love what a nice guy he is too. We got hints of plum, cedarwood and fruit cake in this wine. It's lovely.

Region: Rheinhessen - Grapes: Pinot Noir - Alcohol: 13.5%

Freitag - Naked Friday Riesling 2020

A family owned vineyard that until 2012 exclusively delivered wines to large wineries. When son Philipp Freitag joined the family as cellar master in 2013, we turned into actual wine producers. Philipp pushed forward a natural approach to wine making with his "Naked Friday"-range and since 2020 Freitag only produce natural wines. We were super impressed with his wines and this is a lovely Riesling of his. It's a minerally-driven easy drinking wine! Also check out a little interview we did with Philipp here.

Region: Rheinhessen - Grapes: Riesling - Alcohol: 12%

Brand Bros - Brand Nouveau 2021

Brothers Jonas and Daniel Brand are winemakers in the fifth generation and they are completely immerged into biodynamic and natural winemaking. By now their wines are well liked & respected all over the world and we understand why. We never had a wine of theirs we didn't enjoy and they deliver again with this smashing nouveau style, gluggable red. This is a total juice BOMB! Serve it cold and maybe even glug it from the bottle.

Region: Pfalz  - Grapes: Dornfelder, Spätburgunder, Cabernet Franc, some white wine - Alcohol: 10%

Vin De Lagamba - Frauenpower (Edition 3)

Alanna Lagamba is the only winemaker in this box who has not taken over her parent's vineyard and who isn't actually German. Alanna is from Canada and moved to Berlin at the age of 22. She met and fell in love with young winemaker Martin Wörner and after helping with his harvest a couple of times, she asked to process some of his unused grapes for a German lambrusco-style wine. The result is this super fun wine, now in its third vintage! It’s essentially a fruity, light red with a rounded mouthfeel, yet minimal tannins. We get notes of blackcurrant, grape, cola, fizzy sweets and lime. It's perfect in the sun!

Region: Rheinhessen - Grapes: Dornfelder, Sylvaner / Alcohol: 9.5%
