It is 100% Syrah, half from Heathcote and half from the Goulburn River.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eThe Story Behind The Incline Syrah 2022, from Dane Johns\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDane tells us this wine has always been a special one for him. It was made as a homage to his Nan, who grew up in Rewanui, a remote and very isolated coal mining settlement nicknamed \"Siberia\". It was a handful of huts housing the miners and their families, and the children used to ride on top of the coal wagons to get to school in the nearest town, 7 km away. The only alternative was a long walk down a bush track. Dane's grandfather was also a steam train driver, and he remembers riding in the driver's cabin as a kid.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eProduction Process of The Incline Syrah 2022 by Momento Mori\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHalf of the fruit is grown by the Chalmers family on the Mt Camel Range in northern Heathcote, on Cambrian soils that are volcanic in nature: decomposed ironstone, dolerite, jasper and green basalt. The other half comes from a vineyard on the banks of the Goulburn River, below Mt Torbreck, with 45 year old vines on mostly alluvial, volcanic soils. The fruit was hand picked by Dane and his team at a perfect natural acidity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eTasting Notes for The Incline Syrah 2022 by Momento Mori\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe have not yet tried this vintage of The Incline, but Dane Johns says the 2022 is the tightest version of this wine he has bottled. He describes it as on the lighter side for Syrah, maybe even more Pinot-esque, vibrant and complex with loads of crunchy blue and red fruit, amazing minerality and mouth-watering acidity. It has density without excessive weight, and a very elegant structure.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe previous vintage of this wine we HAVE tried was absolutely amazing and one of the reasons we wanted to import Momento Mori in the first place.
