Merlot

Merlot is a famous red wine grape that is widely cultivated around the world. It is particularly prominent in regions such as Bordeaux in France, where it is one of the primary grape varieties used in the production of red wines. Other important regions for Merlot production include California in the United States, Italy, Chile, and Australia.

Merlot is known for its smooth and velvety texture, making it a popular choice for blending with other grape varieties. It typically produces wines with medium to full body and flavors of black cherry, plum, and chocolate. The grape is also known for its ability to age well, with some Merlot wines developing complex flavors and aromas over time.

In the natural wine world, Mertlot is not so popular. However, in places like Friuli and Slovenia, there are producers like Radikon and Stekar showing how well the grape can be cultivated for fine wines, not like convention fancy bottles of an old fashioned style.
