Piros 2019 by B.D Schmitt is a natural wine made in Rheinhessen with Merlot grapes.

Production details of Piros: Piros (Hungarian for "red") is a Merlot from Bianka and Daniel Schmitt in Rheinhessen, Germany. Bianka is Hungarian. Half the wine sees 4 weeks of skin contact while half is destemmed and pressed off, then both halves ferment naturally in old 1200-litre barrels for 10 months before blending. Bottled with no added sulphur. The Schmitts are Demeter-certified, one of only 80 such producers in Germany.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Piros by B.D Schmitt, but we hear it has notes of dark berries, smoky herbs, air-dried tobacco and a velvety spice finish.
