Beaujolais Blanc Chardonnay 2024 is a natural wine crafted by Séléné, in the Beaujolais region in France. This white wine is made with Chardonnay grapes, which make up just around 2% of what is grown in the Beaujolais region, with the majority going towards Gamay of course. We have not tried this Chardonnay but expect a creamy approach and touches of vanilla and soft citrus elements with stone fruits.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

SÉLÉNÉ

NATURAL WINES BY SÉLÉNÉ

Séléné is Sylvère Trichard's domaine in Blacé, southern Beaujolais, not far from Brouilly. He took over his family's vines in 2012, the oldest planted by his grandfather in 1955, after training with Jean-Claude Lapalu in Beaujolais and Dominique Belluard in Savoie. His partner Elodie Bouvard grows vegetables alongside the vines. The Gamay and Chardonnay, aged 20 to 80 years, grow on sandy clay over a vein of granite. Work follows the lunar calendar, hence the name of the Greek moon goddess.

Reds are made with whole-bunch semi-carbonic maceration and native yeasts in concrete vats, with the oldest-vine Gamay in used oak. Sulphur is at most a small dose at bottling. Besides the November Primeur (Beaujolais Nouveau) there is Beaujolais, Beaujolais Villages, a Gamay pet nat and the Chardonnay Beaujolais Blanc. Sylvère also makes Cuvée du Sud in Blacé from Syrah, Grenache and Carignan grown in the Languedoc.
