Erdreich 2021

Erdreich 2021 by B.D Schmitt is an orange wine (made by macerating the white wine skins with the juice). It's made in Rheinhessen with Bacchus, Gelber Muskateller, Silvaner and Weissburgunder grapes.

Production details of Erdreich: Erdreich is an orange wine made by Bianka and Daniel Schmitt in Rheinhessen, Germany. The blend is Bacchus, Gelber Muskateller, Silvaner and Weissburgunder from vines on limestone, sandstone and loess. The wine ferments on its skins for 4 weeks in oak, then ages 14 months in 1200-litre barrels. The Schmitts are Demeter-certified, one of only 80 such producers in Germany.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Erdreich by B.D Schmitt, but we hear it has notes of golden orchard fruit, floral muscat lift, lemon zest, lees-spice and a faint sherry edge.
