Production details of Fleurie Cuvée Spaciale: Fleurie Cuvée Spaciale is made by Romain Zordan at Château de Grand Pré in Beaujolais. The Gamay comes from ancient 70+ year-old vines on granite-sand soils, planted at some of Beaujolais's highest elevations in the Fleurie cru. A long cool carbonic maceration runs for 30 days in a spherical concrete vessel known as the 'Sputnik' (which appears on the label). The wine then ages 7 months in 600-litre neutral oak hogsheads. Bottled with no added sulphur. The estate uses a lunar-calendar approach.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Fleurie Cuvée Spaciale by Chateau de Grand Pré, but we hear it has notes of bright red fruit, delicate floral lift, light spice and sophisticated tannins.
