Hallelujah is a natural wine crafted by L´Acino, in the hot southern Calabria region in Italy. This white wine is made with Pinot Blanc grapes, called Pinot Bianco in Italy and of which are grown on a small 15 year old vineyard, close to the sea. We hear this wine has a subtle floral nose and rounded mouthfeel, with lower acidity than others

Production Details: Hallelujah is a natural wine from L'Acino in Emilia-Romagna. The wine ferments with native yeasts and no added sulfites. The exact blend varies by vintage but typically draws from the producer's available fruit. The winemaking approach emphasises the expression of the vineyard over technical manipulation.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Hallelujah by L'Acino, but we hear it has notes of red fruit, earth, spice, a light herbal character, and natural minerality.

NATURAL WINES BY L'ACINO

L'Acino was founded in 2006 by Dino Briglio and his two childhood friends in San Marco Argentano, Calabria, on the foothills of the Pollino mountains, and Dino has run it himself since 2016. Few people make natural wine this far south in Italy. The estate farms 10 hectares and leases 5 more, at roughly 400 to 650 metres. Soils are sandy, some rich in iron, over rock, and some old vines are still on their own roots.

The focus is on Calabrian grapes such as Magliocco, Mantonico, Guarnaccia, Pecorello and Malvasia. Fermentations run on native yeasts, mostly in stainless steel, with a small dose of sulphur at bottling. Try Chora Rosso, built on Magliocco and made for pizza, or Giramondo, a skin-contact Malvasia. There is also Agata!, a sweet wine.
