NATURAL WINES BY DUPRÉ GOUJON
Sébastien Dupré and Guillaume Goujon are childhood friends who studied oenology together and trained at Domaine de Montcalmès in the Languedoc before coming home to Beaujolais in the mid-2010s. They began as négociants, using fruit from Sébastien's family vines that used to go to the cooperative, and now run their own domaine in Saint-Lager at the foot of Mont Brouilly. Most of the Gamay grows on Côte de Brouilly blue stone over sandy clay. Their Chardonnay grows in Blacé on clay-limestone at 300 metres.
Reds are made the traditional Beaujolais way: whole bunches, native yeasts and semi-carbonic maceration. La 6.3.1 from 30 to 80-year-old vines has no added sulphur and spends a year in barrels and demi-muids, then a year in vats. Bruhlié, a single lieu-dit, gets 24 months in demi-muids. The white Le Clos des Murières spends a year in old barrels and a second in bare concrete tanks.
