Aura M is a natural orange wine crafted by Michi Lorenz, in the Styria / Steiermark region in Austria. This macerated, skin-contact wine is made with Gelber Muskateller grapes, which is a grape also know as Muskat Ottonel or Muscat d'Alexandria.

This is the Aura M made with this grape, whilst there is also another Aura which is made with Sauvignon Blanc

Tasting Aura M by Michi Lorenz

This Orange wine has caught our attention, but we have not yet tried it. We hope to this week. We hear it has very concentrated stone fruit notes for a macerated wine, with a slightly spicy note too.

The grapes for Aura M are grown on black slate soils, with vines farmed in a holistic method aged between 20-30 years old, which are grow on steep vineyard terraces at around 500m elevation. This wine is aged in old barrique and sees no added sulphur in its vinification or bottling.

NATURAL WINES BY MICHI LORENZ

Michi Lorenz farms 16 hectares of steep vineyards in Kitzeck im Sausal in southern Styria, on schist and slate soils. With very little added sulphur, that minerality really comes through, giving precise, energetic wines. He is one of the most exciting young names in Austria. Try Supernova, Halo or Schist Happens.
