Red & the Beast

Red & the Beast by Valli Unite is a natural red Pet Nat wine made in Piedmont with Barbera, Dolcetto and Cortese grapes (the latter being a white grape, lifting the mouthfeel and weight of the wine).

Expect a juicy mouthfeel and nice bubbles, similar to a dry Lambrusco vibe. Would work great with tomato based dishes like pasta, pizza and similar food vibes, but also ideal on its own.

Production details of Red & the Beast: Red & the Beast is a red Pet Nat from Valli Unite, a long-running 30-family cooperative in Costa Vescovato, southeast Piedmont. The blend uses Barbera, Dolcetto and Cortese (the last being a white grape lifting the wine's mouthfeel). They farm 100 hectares in the Tortona Hills using a lunar-calendar approach with sheep, beehives, orchards and grain fields.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Red & the Beast by Valli Unite, but we hear it has notes of red cherry, ripe berry, soft fizz and a dry Lambrusco-style lift.
