Perrontonic is a rare natural wine crafted by Francois Blanchard, in the Loire region in France. This red wine is made with Cabernet Franc grapes.

RARE, one per order.

Production details of Perrontonic: Perrontonic is made by François Blanchard, fifth generation at Château du Perron in Lémeré, Touraine, Loire. After touring France as a jazz musician, François returned home for his first vintage in 2003. The Cabernet Franc here comes from young vines planted on clay, limestone and sand in Parc du Perron. The grapes ferment as whole bunches for three weeks, then the wine ages in cuve for a year. In the cellar François is openly creative, working with whatever vessels best suit the harvest.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Perrontonic by François Blanchard, but we hear it has notes of vibrant red fruit, earth, leafy spice and a savoury vegetal lift.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY FRANÇOIS BLANCHARD

François Blanchard is the fifth generation of his family at Château du Perron, just outside Lémeré, about 40 minutes south of Tours on the edge of the Touraine appellation. His grandfather and father built it up to over 50 hectares, selling in bulk to négociants. François spent years touring France as a jazz musician before his first proper vintage at home in 2003. He now farms around 4 hectares, the heart of it Le Grand-Clere, with fifty-year-old vines on firm clay scattered with flint.

In the cellar he works by feel, fermenting on native yeasts and picking his vessels vintage by vintage, with very little added. The reds are mostly Cabernet Franc with some Cabernet Sauvignon, and he also grows Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Quantities are tiny, so we limit them to one per order. Right now we have Perrontonic, a Cabernet Franc.
