Pinot Gris 2023

Pinot Gris 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Raspini Winery, in the Baden region in Germany. This white wine is made with Pinot Gris grapes which are grown on Volcanic soils. The Kaiserstuhl is a small, low mountain range of hills rising out of the Upper Rhine Plain that was formed by a stratovolcano roughly 16 million years ago, of which the Raspini vines are grown.

The grapes come from broad terraces on the southwest-facing slope of the Kaiserstuhl, overlooking the Rhine and Alsace. Volcanic subsoil, topped by a deep loess profile. This combination ensures supply and freshness, even in warm years.  After harvest, the grapes are crushed in open vats and left on skins and stems for five days. Gentle pressing with a traditional basket press. Spontaneous fermentation without additions. Ageing for ten months in old barriques. Lees contact is deliberately restrained to avoid amplifying the natural richness of Pinot Gris.
