Root Rot

Root Rot is a budget natural wine crafted by Hareter, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This red wine is made with Blaufränkisch und Sankt Laurent grapes.

Production details of Root Rot: Root Rot is made by Thomas and Claudia Hareter in Weiden am See, Burgenland. The blend is Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent. Wild ferment in stainless steel followed by 21 days of skin maceration and malolactic, then 15 months in large oak barrels. The estate uses homemade compost and herbal teas, with limited sulphur.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Root Rot by Hareter, but we hear it has notes of blackcurrant, elderberry, black pepper, dark chocolate and a silky elegant texture.
