Hey! 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Amós Bañeres, in the Catalonia region in Spain. This orange wine is made with 60% Xarel-lo and 40% Macabeu grapes, grown on limestone soils.

Profile wise, this vibrant Orange has a vegetal and minty aspect alongside hints of clementine and apricot, and some butterscotch notes. There is a slight grip that makes it ideal for light dinners, this is really a gem!

Amós Bańeres states that the Xarel-lo vines are 60 years old and the Macabeu are 30 years old, both grown on 1ha plots.

Macabeu direct press and fermented with indigenous yeast. Aged in fiber. Xarel·lo, destemmed and fermented with skins 10 days, no control of temperature. After soft pressing ageing for 11 months in 300 liters French oak used barrel with total lees.

No batonnage. No racking. Bottled without stabilization, clarification, filtration nor sulphiting

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

 AMÓS BAÑERES

NATURAL WINES BY AMÓS BAÑERES

Amós Bañeres spent seven years as a pharmacist in Barcelona, until a year sailing to Greece with his wife and two young children changed his course. Back in his native Sant Martí Sarroca in the Penedès, he made his first harvest from the family vineyards in 2011. The vines grow at 300 to 400 metres on clay over limestone, dry-farmed and cooled by sea breezes. Around 2020 he also started Els Vinyerons with Alex Ruiz.

Fermentations are spontaneous, ageing is in oak and amphorae, and nothing is added, sulphur included. Hey is an orange blend of Xarel-lo, ten days on its skins and aged in used 300-litre barrels, with directly pressed Macabeu. Chaxiraxi is Baboso Negro, a native Canary grape, from volcanic rock and clay at 1,280 metres in Abona on Tenerife. It ferments in open bins and spends a year in used barrels.
