Fruitloops Weiss is Claus Preisinger's playful white blend from Gols, Burgenland, Austria — a combination of Riesling, Welschriesling, Furmint, and Scheurebe, with a touch of skin contact and time in amphora. Low in alcohol, high in energy, and exactly as much fun as the name suggests.
What is Claus Preisinger's Fruitloops Weiss?
Claus Preisinger farms holistically in Gols, on the shores of the Neusiedlersee in Burgenland. He's been making natural wine here since the early 2000s — you may already know him from Puszta Libre, his cult carbonic Blaufränkisch — and his approach is consistent across every wine: honest farming, low intervention, wines that want to be drunk.
Fruitloops Weiss brings four white varieties together — Riesling, Welschriesling, Furmint, and Scheurebe — with a light skin maceration and maturation in amphora. The amphora brings a quiet mineral quality without any oak influence. Very little sulphur, if any.
Tropical and aromatic from the first pour, with peach, citrus zest, and a lifted floral note from the Scheurebe — and a distinctive mineral tingle that runs right through the finish. The light skin contact gives it just enough texture to make it more interesting than a straightforward white. Low in alcohol and genuinely easy to keep going. Fun and ideal for good times with friends.
Serve cold. Works brilliantly as an aperitif, alongside lighter fish dishes, or simply whenever the occasion calls for something cheerful.
