Perill Noir Sumoll 2012 by Clos Lentiscus is a wonderful red wine, made in Catalonia with Sumoll grapes.

This aged wine is light, complex and fragrant. Complex and aged, yet still with freshness this Perill Noir was a delight, we loved it!

Production details of Perill Noir Sumoll: Perill Noir Sumoll is 100% Sumoll from Manel Aviñó and his daughter Núria at Clos Lentiscus, in a protected area of Penedès Garraf, Catalonia. The vines were planted in 1939 on calcareous soils, farmed using a lunar-calendar approach with help from their bees, sheep and horse Ringo. The grapes are destemmed and given 15 days of maceration with wild ferment, then the wine ages 30 months in French oak. No added sulphur. After Manel's wife was diagnosed with stomach cancer, he stopped using sulphur in any of his cuvées.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Perill Noir Sumoll by Clos Lentiscus, but we hear it has notes of ripe red fruit, earth, fine spice and a vibrant aged depth.

NATURAL WINES BY CLOS LENTISCUS

Clos Lentiscus is one of Spain’s most well-known natural wine producers. Often called "The Bubble Man" for his passion for traditional method sparkling and pét-nat wines, Manel Aviñó runs the winery in a protected area of Penedès, Catalonia, alongside his daughter Núria Aviñó.
Some of their standout bottles include Perill Noir, Cric Cric, and Blanc de Noirs Sumoll—a beautifully crisp sparkling wine with a rosé Cava-like character. These wines are lively, expressive, and full of personality, much like the people behind them.
