Sonnyboy 2024

Sonnyboy 2024 is a natural wine crafted by Aristotelis Ke Anthoula (Australia), in the Riverland region in Australia. This orange wine is made with 75% Muscat of Alexandria and 25% Vermentino grapes.

Tony Zafirakos named this wine after the Sunnyboy - which unknown to us Brits is an iconic triangular Australian ice lolly that came in peach and mango colours and melted fast in the summer heat. He and his partner Maddison Park-Neilson source from  growers in the Riverland, South Australia. Wild fermentation, no additions at any stage. 

Sonnyboy is 75% Muscat of Alexandria (known in Italy as Zibibbo - actually one of the oldest cultivated grapes in the world, planted across the Mediterranean from Egypt to Sicily for centuries) and 25% Vermentino. Five weeks of skin fermentation, then pressed and matured in amphorae for seven months. The result is a wine with texture and weight without being heavy. 

Tinned peaches, mango cheeks and juiced pineapple on the palate. Papaya, grapefruit peel, jackfruit and preserved limes underneath. The tannins complement without contrasting the showy fruit profile - exactly the juicy, expressive orange wine the label promises.

We really were blown away by this tasting at Karakterre wine fair bought it and proud to have some Australian wines in the portfolio.. We do not think this is available anywhere else online in Europe at the moment
