Blaufränkisch Kalkstein by Claus Preisinger is an excellent value, juicy red wine well worth a place in your fridge for weekday dinners! Perfect with most foods and drinkable by itself too - this is great value bottle.

Whilst excellent value, we have noticed this Blaufränkisch Kalkstein is also very ageworthy, so worth getting a few to keep in the cellar!


Production details of Blaufränkisch Kalkstein: Blaufränkisch Kalkstein is made by Claus Preisinger in Gols, Burgenland, Austria. The wine is 100% Blaufränkisch from Kalkstein (limestone) soils. Claus works 19 hectares using a lunar-calendar approach. The wine sees open vat ferment, then ageing in used 500-litre barrels. Made for everyday drinking with the structure to age.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Blaufränkisch Kalkstein by Claus Preisinger, but we hear it has notes of red cherry, fine red berry, light spice and a fresh limestone-driven lift.

Claus Preisinger is one of the most popular natural wine producers based in the Burgenland region of Austria, specifically the town of Gols which is also home to fellow winemakers Georg Schmelzer and Judith Beck. Preisinger wines are fresh, energetic and usually found with a lower-alcohol percentage than others, making them easy drinking and fun.
