Bianco 2024 is a natural wine crafted by Jacopo Stigliano and his friend, in the partnership they call Samodia

Based in Valsamoggia in the Emilia-Romagna region in North Italy, this skin-contact wine is made with a wide mix of grapes, roughly composed of 40% Pignoletto, 15% Albana, 10% Trebbiano Modenese, 10% Trebbiano Romagnolo , 20% Montuni and 5% Moscato.

It undergoes a light maceration, so is not a full bodied as Jacopo's other orange wines can be. Vinification takes place in small Qvevri Amphora and cement tanks, and the wine sees no added sulphites.

Previous 2023 vintage: Expect notes of crushed fennel, apricot, pastry, citrus peel elements, mint, hints of black tea and a soft tannic structure. Really delicious!

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY SAMODIA

Samodia is a shared project between Jacopo Stigliano and Flavio Restani in Valsamoggia, in the hills between Bologna and Modena in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. Jacopo studied food history and worked with natural producers including Stefano Amerighi in Tuscany. Since 2015 he has been reviving abandoned old vineyards in the valley, at 200 to 300 metres on clay and limestone, some still trained up living trees in the old alberata way. Flavio worked in Lambrusco cellars before starting his own label, Koi, in 2018.

The wines are made in small qvevri and cement tanks with no added sulphur. The Bianco is a field blend of mostly Pignoletto with Albana, Trebbiano Modenese, Trebbiano Romagnolo, Montuni and a little Moscato. A short time on the skins keeps it lighter than Jacopo's other orange wines, and we adore it. The Rosso uses Barbera, Sangiovese, Negrettino and two Lambruscos.
