Riesling Granite 2024

Riesling Granite 2024 is a natural wine crafted by Charles Frey, in the Alsace region in France.  Originally from Switzerland, the Frey family settled in Dambach-la-Ville at the beginning of the 18th century… they were some of the pioneers of farming with holistic methods in 1997 in Alsace! It seems they even used to pick nettles for their treatment spready at night to avoid being seen by neighbours who used to mock them, as farming this way was so strange for many at this time in the region

Tasting Notes for Charles Frey Riesling Granite 2024

We have not yet tried this vintage, but from what we know, this vintage of Riesling Granite 2024 is a dry style where the nose expresses bright citrus notes of bergamot alongside elderflower and delicate white blossoms, anchored by stony, flinty minerality.

On the palate, we hear it delivers a fresh and mouthwatering experience with flavors of green apple and white peach, supported by pronounced high acidity and a taut, mineral-driven structure. We expect this Riesling to finish long, clean, and saline, combining floral lift and firm grip, making it an elegant, food-friendly choice ideal with oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, and goat’s cheese.

The natural wine Riesling Granite 2024 from producer Charles Frey is crafted using 100% Riesling grapes and is aged for approximately eight months on fine lees in large old oak casks known as foudres.
