Birdscape Pink 2022 is a natural wine crafted by Christian Tschida, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This light red wine at 12% is made with mostly Blaufränkisch grapes, with a few other varietals topping up the mix in very small proportions.

Grown on slate and limestone soils to the west of Lake Neusiedel in the legandary Leithaberg region (which is one of the oldest known winegrowing sites in the world, actually, with some evidence pointing to vines being grown here from the 8th century BC!) Birdscape Pink is called Pink.. but acts a little more like a red.

The grapes for Birdscape Pink are carefully destemmed and crushed by feet before fermenting spontaneously, of course, in large, neutral wooden barrels for around a year. No added Sulphur in this wine, which feels vibrant and alive, ideally best served chilled. Expect a slight smokey and flinty touch in this wine, alongside tart red berries. Drink in one sitting.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

NATURAL WINES BY CHRISTIAN TSCHIDA

Christian Tschida is a cult-favorite natural winemaker from Austria’s Burgenland region.
A bit of a perfectionist and known for keeping a low profile, he prefers to let his wines do the talking—and they’ve earned him a devoted following worldwide. His vineyards, mostly tended with the help of a horse, are as stunning as they are full of life. Some of his standout bottles include the Himmel auf Erden range, Non-Tradition, Kapitel l, and his iconic Tschida Brutal Wine—a Pinot Noir with a wild, forest-like depth that reminds us of a great Burgundy. Whether it’s Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, or Blaufränkisch, his wines are something special, which is why you’ll find them in some of the best restaurants around the world.
