Mechthild 2023 MAGNUM

Mechthild 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Gut Oggau, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This orange wine is made with Grüner Veltliner grapes.

Previous vintage of Mechthild by Gut Oggau Tasting notes: Fantastic, complex orange wine. Herbal, mildly tannic and aromatic Grüner Veltliner which will work with lots of different food dishes. After time she opens up to reveal wonderful spice and extra layers.

Beautiful and age worthy, but still mega fantastic to drink now.

LIMITED TO 700 Litres production

Mechthild by Gut Oggau comes from an approximately 60 year old plantation planted with Grüner Veltliner on lime and slate soil. This elegant lady is very kind, but also polarizing, sometimes strange and always profound. She does her best to continue to rest on the bottle to show her expressive character.

The berries are pressed in a 200-year-old wooden press and, like all wines from Gut Oggau, are bottled unembellished, unfiltered and without the addition of sulphur. The maturation takes place for about 2 years in used 500 litre barrels on the full yeast.

Mechthild always has a ready ear, but constantly adheres to her principles. She is the “kind-hearted grandmother” of nostalgia that one trusts, but she can also be secretive and polarize opinion.
