Gutedel is a salty, fresh and quaffable Chasselas from Wasenhaus, ideal for sunny afternoons, salads or light starters.
Wasenhaus is the brainchild of Christoph Wolber and Alexander Götze.
The pair met while attending the school of viticulture in Beaune and the Burgundian soul in their wines is evident through each bottle. Their vineyards, which they farm sustainably, are scattered through the Baden region with plots in Staufen, on the Oelberg in Ehrenstetten, and on the Kirchberg in Ehrenkirchen.
They also source fruit from trusted friends in Kaiserstuhl and the Markgräflerland. The Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Gutedel are all pressed in their winery in Staufen im Breisgau and left with minimal intervention in high-quality Burgundy barrels until they’re ready for bottling. The wines display finesse, precision, and refined singularity unseen in Germany.
