Rhône Valley | Natural Wine from Rhône Valley
In regards to Natural Wine, the Rhône Valley is a region that is more known for conventional wines, however that is not to say natural wines in the Rhone cannot be found - they can! The region for the Rhône Valley is generally located at either side of the river Rhône, downstream from Lyon in the south east of France.
The Rhône Valley is known for its wide range of grape varieties. In addition to Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Carignan are commonly grown in the region. White grape varieties such as Viognier, Roussanne, and Marsanne are also prominent.
An interesting fact about the Rhône Valley is that it is the second largest wine-producing region in France. Whilst quite traditional in winemaking, there are natural wine producers in the Rhône Valley, and even more when you factor in Ardeche. Notable Rhone producers making wine naturally include Eric Texier, Dard et Ribo, Masion Stephan, Du Coulet and Domaine Gramenon
