Le Ginglet 2019 is a natural wine crafted by Tony Bornard, in the Jura region in France. This red wine is made with Trousseau grapes. We have not yet tried this vintage, but found the 2020 vintage to perk you up with a vibrant kick of V.A and dark forest fruits. Fun and delicious. We look forward to trying this vintage too!

Why is it called Le Ginglet?

The name Ginglet is a fun term, basically a slang word derived from "guiguer," meaning to jump, because the wine makes you jump. Equivalent to easy going wine, plonk to drink and have fun with...  that doesn't take itself too seriously for a wine of pleasure, to be drunk for its fruitiness and freshness. This dialect word is also meaning to have a glass – to enjoy oneself.

How is Tony Bornard's Le Ginglet made?

Here with Le Ginglet, Trousseau grapes grow on Red marls, and were harvested on September 7th before being 100% destemmed, and seeing pump-overs once a day with gentle punch-downs during a 3-week maceration. Le Ginglet is then fermented and aged in tanks for 9 months. No added sulphites, as with all Tony Bornard wines.

TONY BORNARD DOCUMENTARY

One of our first documentaries many years ago was with Tony Bornard, at a time when he had just build his new winery in Pupillin, and literally in the process of moving barrels in from the old cellar of Philippe Bornard into the new place up the road. This process of change was an important period for Tony Bornard and he opens up about this and the emotional aspects related to it.

NATURAL WINES BY DOMAINE BORNARD | TONY BORNARD

Philippe Bornard evolved Domaine Bornard in 2005, as a close friend and neighbor to the legendary Pierre Overnoy in the Jura wine region in Pupillin. Now run by his son Tony Bornard, the estate continues to produce wines with a distinctive Jura character, while Tony adds his own unique touch, steering the wines in exciting new directions.
Sustainably farmed, Bornard’s wines are easily identifiable thanks to their labels featuring a ginger fox. Some of their standout bottles include Le Ginglet, Chassagnes, Le Vin de Ploussard, and the exceptional Bornard Vin Jaune. Watch our video on Tony Bornard and see all the wines here
