Achillée
The Dietrich family of Domaine Achillée has farmed land in this region of Alsace by Scherwiller since 1600, chemical free since 1999 and then encompassing holistic principles in 2013. It was current owners Pierre Dietrich and Jean Dietrich who converted the business to bottle their own wines in 2016, having previously sold grapes to the cooperative.
The Achillée domaine with their distinctive black labels is very well respected in the natural wine scene, especially for their vibrant and age worthy Riesling, Pinot Noir and special Cremants. Pierre and Jean Dietrich also operate the more budget-friendly Pépin wine project too, from the same base.
In 2016 they built a bioclimatic winery, which is a passive building built of wood and straw. This achievement of 5000 self-supporting straw bales, makes it the largest construction in Europe to date.
