NATURAL WINES BY KRÁSNÁ HORA
Krásná Hora is the Vybíral family winery in south-eastern Moravia, named after the vineyard above Starý Poddvorov that Marek Vybíral Sr. bought in 2007, first planted by Cistercian monks in the 13th century. Marek Sr., his wife Blanka and nephew Ondřej Dubas run it with the next generation, farming around 14 hectares, mostly on loess. A visit to Milan Nestarec in 2015 turned them towards natural wine.
The range is wide. The 'faces' wines, like the five-grape white La Blanca, the Anna pét-nat and the skin-contact Herr Gewurz, are affordable and easy. The Barrel wines are more serious, fermented and aged in French oak on the lees, and the Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc have no added sulphur. Then there are traditional method sparklings, including a Blanc de Blanc 2019 that spent four years on its lees.
