NATURAL WINES BY MUCHADA-LÉCLAPART
Muchada-Léclapart is a partnership between Alejandro Muchada, an Andalusian architect turned farmer, and Champagne grower David Léclapart. The two met working a harvest in 2011 and later set up in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in Sherry country. Their vines grow mostly on albariza, the bright white chalky local soil, including old Palomino in Miraflores and La Platera, a plot bought in 2017, plus old Moscatel on sand in Chipiona.
The aim is a serious Palomino white with no fortification and no flor. Grapes are pressed whole on a Champagne cycle, fermented in ceramic-lined steel tanks or old barrels and left on their lees. Sulphur is a small dose at pressing. We stock Univers, their entry wine from La Platera, fresh, salty and raised in steel. Lumière spends longer in barrel, and Elixir brings in Moscatel.
