Farming 10 hectares of vines in the Little Carpathian mountains of the Bratislavia region of Slovakia, the brothers of Hubinsky inherited vines from their parents in 2004 and made their first vintage in 2008. The pair, David and younger brother Peter have been steadily moving more towards the natural wine movement, using less sulphur, if any and working in a more holistic approach in line with the lunar cycle.
We find their wines to be extremely exciting, especially for the attractive prices.

Veltinske Zelene Concrete Pyramid 2018/19
This white wine is made with 100% Grüner Veltliner grapes, AND IT TASTES AMAZING!
WOW! What an experience this wine is... and certainly not your usual Grüner Veltliner. Expect a somewhat wild Petroleum fuelled finish, honey, yuzu. Expect bright acidity, a refreshing yet complex mouthfeel and a LOT of energy going on. We really were blown away by this and feel it tastes more like a wine 10 euros more!
Vinification of Veltinske Zelene Concrete Pyramid 2018/19
The grapes are grown on 40 year old vines planted on a sandy soil, based on top of rough gravel making the vines dig deep for nutrients. Vintage 2018 sees minor skin contact for eight days, fermentation in a stainless steel tank, ageing in concrete pyramid ( 600l ) and wooden barrel ( 500l ).
Vintage 2019 sees skin contact for 5 days, fermentation in concrete pyramid ( 600l ), No added sulphur in 2019. The two were blended in September 2021.
Rizling Vlassky 2018/2019
This white wine is made with Welschriesling grapes, which are called Rizling Vlassky in the country (also in the Czech Republic)
This wine absolutely rocks with some time in a carafe. After a carafe to allow the pickled and Volatile Acidic elements to blow off, it has petroleum notes like an aged Riesling. Rounded, yet energetic and vibrant mouthfeel. Limes, meadow flowers, wet rocks, pickle juice, dried grass. Certainly with an acidic kick and if you like acid then this is great value for money.
Grown on brown clay soils of vineyards aged 40-50 years old. Vinification of Welschriesling vintage 2018 saw skin-contact for four days. Semi-carbonic maceration, with 30% of whole clusters poured over by fermenting must.
Fermentation in a stainless steel tank. Vintage 2019 saw skin-contact for three days and no added sulphur. Blended in September 2021.
Rock Rizling Rynsky 2020
This fun white wine is made with Riesling grapes., and is still despite the crown cap making you think its a sparkling wine.
Expect notes of Honeysuckle, Elderflower & Honeysuckle, Salt, Meadow Flowers... and a hint of pickle juice giving it some edge!
