Hip Hip Jura Chardonnay Macere 2023

Hip Hip Jura Chardonnay 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Alice Bouvot of L'Octavin, in the Jura region in France. This popular wine is made with Chardonnay grapes, and  usually comes armed with a vibrant high acidity with some Volatile aspects, so know this before buying as it will have some edge that differs from typical styles of Jura. 

The grapes here are Negoce, but sourced from trusted friends of Alice in Jura. In general, the wines with gnomes on labels are Negoce grapes and this is how they are identified. This Hip Hip Chardonnay Macere is aged for 18 months in Foudre at the winery in Arbois, and is an orange wine, with two-thirds of the wine made with direct pressing and one-third as a destemmed maceration for five weeks. The two are then blended together.

Documentary on Domaine de l'Octavin

This was one of our earliest natural winemaker documentaries, shot mainly on iPhone. Visiting Alice Bouvot of Domaine de l'Octavin in Arbois, Jura again was a true pleasure. Alice is a gentle soul, thoughtful and somewhat spiritual. Couple this with her dedication to relentless hard work and pursuit of keeping her vineyards in the healthiest, happiest state and its no surprise Domaine de l'Octavin wines are highly sought after around the world.
