El Bandito 2022 from Testalonga is a natural wine made from 100% Chenin Blanc from 50 year old vines. This El Bandito wine was actually South Africa's first orange wine! The wine has evolved from heavy maceration to less now, and this is very elegant interpretation of this wine category, with 8 days of maceration. It undergoes fermentation in 1,500 L open fermenters, followed by maturation for around 11 months in a 3,000 L old oak foudre before bottling.

Tasting Notes for El Bandito 2022 by Testalonga

Aromas of mint come through quite pronounced, alongside bursts of clementine and thyme. It then develops with candied fruit, butterscotch, white tea, acacia honey, and pronounced minerality alongside touches of jasmin flowers salty touches, all kept together with some nice sandy tannic structure. A really good orange wine!
