Xarel·Lo
Xarel·Lo, which is pronounced Cha-rel-lo, is a white wine grape that is primarily grown in the Catalonia region of Spain. It is one of the three main grapes used in the production of Cava, a sparkling wine that is highly regarded worldwide. Xarel·Lo is also grown in other regions of Spain, such as Penedès and Alella. Xarel·Lo wines are typically dry and crisp, with high acidity and a medium body. They often exhibit notes of citrus, green apple, and tropical fruits, with a subtle mineral undertone.
The grapes are typically harvested in late August or early September, when they have reached optimal ripeness. The resulting wines are refreshing and vibrant, making them a perfect choice for warm weather or as an aperitif.
