Egesta 2019 by Aldo Viola is a complex, orange wine made in the Alcamo region Sicily with Grillo grapes.

Production details of Egesta: Egesta is Aldo Viola's Grillo orange wine from Alcamo in western Sicily. The grapes are picked and de-stemmed by hand. They ferment in stainless steel and macerate on their skins for six months, then refine for another six months in steel before bottling. No added sulphur.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Egesta by Aldo Viola, but we hear it has notes of Mediterranean scrub, candied citrus, wild flowers, aromatic herbs and a fine tannic length.

NATURAL WINES BY ALDO VIOLA

Aldo Viola works near Alcamo in western Sicily, not far from Palermo, with yellow flowers and cover crops growing between the vines. His brother Alessandro makes wine on the other side of town on different soils, and the styles are very different. Aldo's wines are structured, raw and fairly classic. We love the Plus Syrah with a steak, and the Brutto pét-nat for something easier.
