Rosso V.V 2018

Colombaia are a family-run, natural wine producer in Tuscany, Italy.

They're a great producer to consider getting great value Italian reds ideal for hearty food, and even more so when looking at the older vintages.

Production details of Rosso V.V: Rosso V.V is made by Dante Lomazzi and his wife Helena Variara at Colombaia in Colle Val d'Elsa, Siena province, Tuscany. They work 3 hectares of 40-year-old vines planted with Tuscany's native grapes (Sangiovese, Colorino, Malvasia Nera and Canaiolo) plus one hectare planted in 2005. Demeter-certified since 2003. Natural ferment in concrete tanks, ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Rosso V.V by Colombaia, but we hear it has notes of ripe red cherry, plum, fine spice and a deep earthy Sangiovese soulfulness.
