1944 'Antifaschistisch' Riesling 2024 is a natural wine crafted by Grandbois, in the Mosel region in Germany. This mild skin-contact wine is made with Riesling grapes. Whilst with skin-contact, to our knowledge this colour is more white but with the structure of an orange. We will review it soon!

Grandbois state that : This Mosel Riesling from the steep slopes breaks with convention. It is our answer to the question of what attitude tastes like when you give the grape the freedom to show its edge. Unfiltered, lively and uncompromisingly honest.

  • The kick: Through the Maischevergärung (Schalenkontakt) gives this Riesling structure and grip. Expect aromas of dried orange peel, wild sage and a cool, smoky minerality that comes directly from the slate.

  • The craft: Konsequenter Weine. Spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, unfiltered and vegan matured. No fining, no filtration - just the pure energy of the steep slope. Minimal sulphur is only added before bottling.

  • The attitude: A clear statement against exclusion and for an open society. A wine for dialog and all those who value backbone in the glass and in life.

  • Food Pairing: A wine for ambitious home cooking. Great with Homemade pasta with sage butter, Braised fennel with lemon, fried chanterelles or a mature, strong mountain cheese.

NATURAL WINES BY GRANDBOIS WINES

Tanja and Philippe Grandbois run a small winery in Germany’s Mosel region, where they take care of 2 hectares planted with a mix of Riesling, Bacchus, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc. After moving to Maring-Noviand to raise a family, they decided to settle into life on the land and make wine together.
Before diving into winemaking, Tanja was a pastry chef and worked at wineries across Germany. Philippe, on the other hand, left his corporate gig opening bars for Marriott International to gain experience at wineries in Australia, Burgundy, New Zealand, and Canada—where they eventually met.
Grandbois Wines are all about fun and freshness—perfect for sipping with friends in the park on a sunny day. Their use of new oak is a bit of a surprise in the natural wine world, but it makes their still wines, like Pinecone Pinot Blanc, super unique and approachable!
