BB 2023 is a natural wine crafted by Partida Creus, in the Catalonia region in Spain. This red wine is made with lesser-known Bobal grapes (lesser known... but it IS Spains 3rd most planted grape!), which are harvested by hand, destemmed and macerated for 3 days with the skins.

The wine ages in stainless steel tanks for 8 months before bottling unfined, unfiltered and without sulphites as with all Partica Creus wines

Tasting BB by Partida Creus

2023 is a great vintage for BB Bobal and comes armed with a Bordeaux style nose at first, which is lifted with a small amount of Volatile Acidity alongside interesting and delicious notes of dark cherries, cacao, thyme, anise and eucalyptus. Delightful!

note: drink in one swift sitting with friends, as it becomes unstable after 2-3 hours

Partida Creus and Forgotten Grapes?

Massimo and Antonella of Partida Creus have brought new life into previously abandoned vineyards, whilst many of their conventional neighbours have been ripping their native varietals out to plant more popular international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay, many of which are not suitable for the climate. Grapes like Sumoll are virtually extinct, but producers like Partida Creus are showcasing this grape, alongside others like Parellada Rosa.

NATURAL WINES BY PARTIDA CREUS

Partida Creus is a big name in the natural wine world. Founded in 2001 by the super-charismatic Italian duo Massimo Marchiori and Antonella Gerona, this winery is based in Bonastre, in Spain’s Penedès region. Their mission? Bringing old, indigenous grape varieties back to life.
They work with grapes like Xarel-lo, Boball, Trepat, and Moscatel, producing over 100,000 bottles a year—making them one of the biggest natural wine producers in the area. They don’t use any added sulfur at any stage and even craft an incredible Vermouth called MUZ.
