Pheasant's Tears | Georgian Wine

Pheasant's Tears is perhaps the most well known natural wine producer from Georgia. The Pheasants Terar winery is based in the Kakheti a region in Eastern Georgia.

The winery is perhaps well known partly thanks to American owner John Wurdeman, who visited the region as painter intrigued by the local folk music before developing a love for the local wine and becoming involved with expanding the existing winery after an invitation from a local artisan. All wines are aged in traditional Qvevri amphora, and the most common grapes of the winery include Rkatsiteli, Saperavi and Kisi. There is even a wine called Poliphonia, which is a field blend of 417 different grapes that are on the brink of extinction, and of which Pheasant's Tears are part of a project to maintain.
