Pheasant's Tears | Georgian Wine
Pheasant's Tears is perhaps the most well known natural wine producer from Georgia. The Pheasants Terar winery is based in the Kakheti a region in Eastern Georgia.
. The winery is perhaps well known partly thanks to American owner John Wurdeman, who visited the region as painter intrigued by the local folk music before developing a love for the local wine and becoming involved with expanding the existing winery after an invitation from a local artisan. All wines are aged in traditional Qvevri amphora, and the most common grapes of the winery include Rkatsiteli, Saperavi and Kisi. There is even a wine called Poliphonia, which is a field blend of 417 different grapes that are on the brink of extinction, and of which Pheasant's Tears are part of a project to maintain.
