Vinhos Prototipo make their wines in the Douro, in northern Portugal. Everything we have had from them is a blend of local grapes rather than a single variety.
Two of the three are sparkling. Prototipo White Ancestral puts together Arinto, Viosinho, Malvasia fina, Malvasia rei and Esgana Cão with a few others; Prototipo Rose Ancestral runs on Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Mourisco, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela and a field blend. Prototipo White is the third, from Malvasia fina, Malvasia rei, Esgana Cão and a little field blend again.
