Krawallo 2021

Krawallo 2021 is a natural wine crafted by Projekt Wildtyp, in the Burgenland region in Austria. This deep orange wine is made with 100% Grüner Veltliner grapes, which are fermented for 17 days on the skins and aged for 13 months in mostly barrels and a little tanks. No added sulphur.

Production details of Krawallo: Krawallo (an old Viennese word for "troublemaker") is made by Boris Kovacic at Projekt Wildtyp in St Margarethen, Burgenland. Kovacic spent 18 years as a stem cell and cancer researcher before turning to the land. The wine is 100% Grüner Veltliner from mica slate and sandy schist soils, foot-trodden and macerated on its skins for 17 days in stainless steel before ageing in oak barrels. 13.5% alcohol, no added sulphur.

Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Krawallo by Projekt Wildtyp, but we hear it has notes of dried apricot, tonka bean, tangerine, fir tree and a vanilla caramel edge from the oak.
