Corvinone
Corvinone, not to be confunsed with Corvina, is a red wine grape that is primarily grown in the Veneto region of Italy. It is one of the key varieties used in the production of Amarone and Valpolicella wines. Corvinone is known for its deep, intense flavors and rich, full-bodied character.
The Veneto region, particularly the Valpolicella and Amarone della Valpolicella zones, is the main area where Corvinone is cultivated. This grape thrives in the region's warm climate and limestone-rich soils, which contribute to its unique flavor profile.
Corvinone grapes are known for their thick skins, which give the resulting wines a deep color and robust tannins. The flavors of Corvinone wines are often described as dark and concentrated, with notes of black cherry, plum, and spice. These wines have a velvety texture and a long, lingering finish.
