Matassa Brutal Rouge is one of the most sought after natural wines on the site, and this year the allocation was very low!

Made with Syrah and Carignan this beautiful Brutal wine from the South of France really is super juicy and delicious, with hardly any tannic structure.

Interestingly, this wine is no longer called Matassa Brutal, but actually Tommy Ferriol.

When we asked winemaker Tom Lubbe why, he replied: ""It's been 5 years since we took over the Mas Ferriol, a historic Catalan mas near Perpignan. We brought it from Domane Jolly Ferriol and there has been confusion over who now owns the property. We do, and as the grapes for Brutal Rouge/Tommy Ferriol come exclusively from our vineyards around the Mas (our winery and home) we wanted to denote and celebrate that fact. Hence the name change. The 2023 was also the 20th vintage of Domaine Matassa!"

NATURAL WINES BY MATASSA

Domaine Matassa is the natural wine estate of Tom Lubbe, who is based in Roussillon, at the Southern tip of France close to Spain. Matassa is one of the most in-demand wineries in the natural wine scene, which stems largely from their approachable drinkability and high quality expressions of local grapes in their vineyards.
