Brutal 2023 is a rare natural wine crafted by Vinyes Tortuga, in the Catalonia region in Spain. This orange wine with just 750 bottles made is created with Carinyena Blanca, Garnacha Blanca and Garnacha Roja (Grenache Gris) grapes.

Both the owners of Vinyes Tortuga actually are no stranger to making Brutal wines, having worked with one of the founders Joan Ramón Escoda. Some of the vines in their own offering are 90 years old

The mix of grapes are destemmed by hand and then macerated on the skins for a week before theaging in steel tanks for fresness. We hear its salty and a little spicy.

We ship every Wednesday. Order by Tuesday 10am.

Brutal Wines | What is a Brutal Wine?

Brutal Wines have no-added sulphur  & contrary to popular belief, are NOT meant to be benefitting from some sort of technical 'fault', however, this is not uncommon. WATCH OUR VIDEO INTERVIEW with one of the founders, Joan Ramon of Escoda-Sanahuja here.

Brutal Wines are seen as experimental, rare and the label is (meant to be) only passed down from respected Brutal winemakers to another. They are a highly-sought after, rare, cult style of the natural wine scene. Original rules state only one barrel should be made... although we wonder how much this rule is followed these days...
